Version 1.0, in effect from not yet set (draft)
Cookie policy
This policy lists every cookie and every piece of browser storage this website uses, what each one is for, and how you choose.
The short version
On the pages anyone can see we use one essential cookie, which remembers your cookie choice, and, only if you allow it, one analytics cookie. There are no advertising cookies and no cookies from any other company. Our visit counts work without any cookie at all.
Essential cookies
These make the site work, so they need no consent. They are first-party (set by https://fitwithriley.com and sent only back to it).
- nv_consent remembers your answer to the cookie bar ("essential" or "analytics", with the version of these policies you answered) so we do not ask on every page. It lasts 13 months, and when the policies change we ask again.
- ms is set only if you send a request or sign in to follow one on the full site. It keeps you signed in for 30 days, or until you sign out.
- Our own staff use one more sign-in cookie when they manage the site. It is never set for visitors.
The analytics cookie, only with your consent
- nv_id holds a random identifier, nothing else. It is set only after you choose "Allow analytics", it lasts 13 months, and the page itself cannot read it.
With it, our server can tell your browser's visits apart from others across days, so it keeps one profile for your browser: when you first and last visited, how many visits and pages, the kind of device, the site you first came from, which pages you read, and the country and city your visits come from. The profile carries no name and no email. If you join our list while the cookie is set, your sign-up is tied to the same profile, so we can see which pages someone on our list has read. All of this stays with Fit With Riley: it is never sold, rented or shared with anyone to market to you.
Without this cookie we still count visits, as our privacy policy explains: by a code that changes every day and cannot be turned back into you, so no profile is built across days and your visits are not tied to your email.
With or without the cookie, the country and city of each visit are looked up on our own server from an offline database and stored with the visit; your network address is not. No cookie is involved in that, and no other company is asked.
Browser storage
On the pages of the full site that carry the concierge chat, your browser keeps a random conversation code in its local storage, so a conversation can continue when you come back. It holds nothing else and never leaves your browser except with the messages you send.
What we do not use
No advertising or social media trackers, no third-party analytics, no tracking pixels in our emails. Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which sets no cookie. Our Instagram link loads nothing from Instagram until you click it.
How to choose, and change your mind
The bar at the bottom of the page asks once: "Essential only" or "Allow analytics". To change your answer, use "Change your cookie choice" at the end of this page or of any of our legal pages. Choosing "Essential only" deletes the analytics cookie, and our profile of your browser stops growing. To have the profile itself deleted, or untied from your email, write to the address on our contact page. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser's settings; the site works without them, though it will ask again.
Contact
Questions about cookies go to the address on our contact page, or by post to Fit With Riley, not yet published here.
Your cookie choice
You can change it at any time.
We use one essential cookie and, if you allow it, one analytics cookie.
